Pakistani model Qandeel Baloch murdered in honor killing

A Pakistani model and social media star was pushing to change the conservative norms in her home country before her life was tragically taken away by her younger brother in an apparent honor killing.

Labeled the country's own Kim Kardashian, Qandeel Baloch, 26, was murdered by her younger brother Daniyal "Wasim" Jugnnoo for posting controversial pictures, videos and messages on social media, according to authorities.

Family members often carry out honor killings in Pakistan as a way to punish those who steer away from the conservative norms.

Baloch, whose real name is Fouzia Azeem, made her way into the spotlight in 2014 with the video "How 'em looking." She also made headlines when she promised a strip tease if the Pakistan national cricket team won an international match — the team lost.

The killing reportedly occurred on Friday, but the woman's body was not found until Saturday morning, according to the Express Tribune.

Her parents told the paper that she was strangled to death by her brother after an argument, and he is now on the run.

Baloch's parents have been taken into custody, according to the Tribune.
