Two people drowned after eight people were tossed into a lake in a weekend boating accident in South Carolina.
The boat captain was charged with a felony after making an apparently fatal sharp turn in the waters of Lake Moultrie at approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday.
The 35-foot vessel hit a large wave while it was making the turn, according to reports.Eight people were tossed into the water, and two men aged 47 and 51 went missing. Their bodies were recovered on Monday.
Another boat that was in the area had pulled in the six surviving boaters, according to ABC News 4. One of the other boaters could not swim and a friend tried to save him, according to the station.
A woman was hospitalized following the accident, and was later released, according to the Post and Courier.
Boat captain Jacque Warren Bracewell was charged with boating under the influence. The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is investigating the tragedy, WCBD reported.
