Former 3 Doors Down guitarist Matt Roberts dies at 38

Matt Roberts, a talented guitarist and a longtime member of the rock group 3 Doors Down, has died at 38.

The musician's body was found by police and firefighters in West Bend, Wis., on Saturday morning after someone called to report he was unconscious in a hotel hallway.

A cause of death is currently unknown, and an autopsy was scheduled for Sunday. Police said in a statement that there were no signs of trauma.

Roberts was in Wisconsin to perform at a charity event benefitting veterans. He was traveling with his father, Darrell Roberts, who was staying in the adjoining hotel room.

Darrell Roberts said he planned to pay homage to his son by placing the rocker's guitar on the stage he was scheduled to perform on at the Rockin' for Heroes event and thank the musician's on-hand fans.

Roberts' band achieved considerable success in the 2000s, with their first single "Kryptonite" earning a Grammy nomination.

A rep for the band did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
