Queens girl, 9, found dead in her bathroom

A 9-year-old girl was found dead Friday in the bathroom of her Queens home — and authorities are looking for her missing stepmom, according to police sources.

Little Ashdeep Kaur’s bruised and naked body was discovered by a neighbor around 6 p.m., sources and relatives said.

FDNY and NYPD officials confirmed they responded to a call of a young girl lying unresponsive in a first-floor bathroom of the multifamily attached home in South Richmond Hill around 6 p.m.

The girl’s stepmom, identified by family as Arjuna Samdhi Erabas, was supposed to be watching the girl. She has yet to be located.

“There was no water, but she was in the tub,” said Mandinna Singh, a cousin of Ashdeep’s father. “The little one said she sometimes beat her.”

Ashdeep, who moved to Queens from India three months ago, lived in an apartment in the three-story building with her father, Sukhginder Singh, and her stepmom.

Erabas also had two young grandkids, according to family.

“She told me she didn’t want to come here because her stepmother beat her. I see some scratching on her hand,” her uncle Mankh Singh said.

“She’s like a princess, very nice girl,” he added, breaking down in tears. “Very happy girl, playing with everybody.”

A neighbor who shared part of the house called Ashdeep’s dad at work and told him that Erabas and his daughter had gone into the bathroom together, but then the stepmother had left the house.

When the neighbor went to take a shower later she discovered the girl’s lifeless body and called 911.

Ashdeep’s dad rushed home from work after his daughter was discovered dead and broke down. The distraught dad collapsed and was briefly hospitalized.

“He went crying into ambulance, he passed out, so they took him to ambulance,” his cousin, Dharminder Singh said.

Dozens of relatives and neighbors flooded the street outside the home, many standing dazed and in disbelief.

“She is finished, what is there to say?” asked Mankh Singh.
