A 23-year-old Texas man beheaded his wife and put her head in a freezer before barricading himself inside a trailer home with their kids, police said.
Officers in Bellmead, outside Waco, arrested blood-covered David Dauzat after a brief standoff at the mobile home park Thursday,
sources close to the investigation told KWTX-TV.
Dauzat is charged with killing his 21-year-old wife Natasha, and child welfare officials assumed custody of their children, ages 1 and 2. The children were apparently unharmed Thursday.
Both David and Natasha Dauzat posted photos of their children on their Facebook pages, and David Dauzat’s page showed an album titled “Our family’s happy Christmas” on Dec. 25. Natasha Dauzat’s page also mentioned how happy of a family they had been.
“I'm the happiest girl ever with an amazing Husband and kids and I love them xoxoxoxo,” she wrote.
Investigators were working Friday to find a motive for the slaying, a Bellmead police spokesman told People magazine. Dauzat confessed to officers he had killed his wife as he was being handcuffed at the Concord Rd. trailer park, according to police.
He was incarcerated in the McLennan County jail on a $500,000 bond, records showed.
