Woman killed on Phoenix freeway begged 911 for help

A woman who was killed on a Phoenix freeway begged a 911 operator for help, pleading "what should I do?" just moments before she was fatally shot.

Police released a transcript of Dinya Farmer's call for help on Monday, two weeks after she was relentlessly pursued by three men in a pickup truck while driving on Route 51.

Farmer died at a hospital after she crashed into a freeway median on Sept. 7.

Investigators say the circumstances of the shooting don't point to random violence or a traffic dispute, but they've been unable to pinpoint a motive.

Farmer, who was 49, called for assistance when she noticed the white truck following her.

"They started at Broadway and Seventh Avenue following me," she told the operator, according to the transcript obtained by the Arizona Republic. "They pulled up and was gonna get outta their truck and like they're following me now on the freeway."

Farmer would later say, "They're behind me but I don't know what to do," according to the newspaper. Farmer asked "what should I do?"

A noise could be heard on the phone, and the operator asked repeatedly, "Ma'am, are you there?"

Operators could hear gunshots before the call was disconnected.
