Boy wounded after shooting at Union Middle School in Utah

A 12-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting outside a Utah middle school, according to police.

As school at Union Middle School let out for the day, two boys got into an argument that erupted into a shooting, police spokesman Dean Carriger told the Daily News.

He said that the victim was taken to a local hospital in unknown condition, and that the suspect was in custody as of 3:45 p.m. local time.

An eyewitness told KSTU that the the two boys were going to fight each other with their fists before the shooter pulled a gun, shot his adversary twice and then collapsed to the ground crying.

The school in Sandy, south of Salt Lake City, was put on lockdown after the incident, according to Canyons School District.

That lockdown has since been lifted, and Carriger said that police are not looking for any other suspects.
