Actress injured by horse claims N.Y. farm gave her drugged animal

A German actress was seriously injured before a film shoot at an upstate New York horse farm because stable staff gave her a dangerous, drugged up equine for a riding scene, a federal lawsuit alleges.

Ursula Karven-Veres, whose son drowned in Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee's pool during a June 2001 party according to reports from the time, was scheduled to shoot a horse-riding scene at Winley Farm, in Dutchess County, last summer.

Winley Farm also was supposed to help Karven-Veres find a safe horse for the scene, as the actress needed to seem like an experienced rider "even though Karven herself has only limited riding capabilities," the suit filed in Manhattan said.

Instead, Winley trainers picked a jumper named Dior, a Dutch Warmblood "trained to be a sport horse," according to court papers, which maintain the animal's not suitable for beginners, given the breed's bouncy gait.
"Ms. Karven-Veres was the unfortunate victim of the gross negligence of the Farm and has suffered greatly since the Farm's misconduct caused her injury," said her lawyer, John Balestriere.
