Drunk man shoots Bronx restaurant owner twice after being cut off

A Bronx boozer’s night on the town ended with two shots — fired at his host.

The sloshed shooter, deemed too drunk for another round at a Bronx restaurant, pulled his gun and pumped a pair of bullets into its co-owner early Friday, witnesses and police said.

Mario Ramirez, 52, was first blasted in the chest by the inebriated attacker — who then shot the bleeding man in the neck while the victim was lying on the floor of the El Ray de Copas Restaurant.

Ramirez was rushed to Jacobi Hospital in serious condition after the 1 a.m. shooting on White Plains Rd. The suspect, who knew the victim, fled the scene and remained on the loose, police said.

“He was drunk and because of that, we didn't serve him," said Gustavo Ramirez, 49, the victim’s brother and business partner.

“That was the motive for the shooting,” he said. “The employees called me about the shooting. He (the shooter) came here two years ago and caused a problem. Nobody got hurt then."

Gustavo Ramirez said he was planning to work at the restaurant until his older brother told him to take the night off.

“My brother said, ‘Don't worry, everything is fine,’” said Gustavo.

The brothers took over the restaurant in 2001 after immigrating from Mexico.

“He would take care of me like I was a son of his own,” said the kid brother. "He would watch out for me."

In an unrelated shooting, a 32-year-old man was shot in the midsection outside an East Harlem deli, cops said.

The shooting occurred happened on First Ave. near E. 101st St. around 1:30 a.m. Friday. The victim, taken to Harlem Hospital, was expected to survive, according to police.

At least four shell casings were found on the sidewalk, and the shooter remained at large.
