N.J. Transit buses crash in Lincoln Tunnel, injuring 15

Morning commuters sounded off against New Jersey Transit after two of its buses crashed in the Lincoln Tunnel, causing delays along more than 60 bus routes early Monday.

A 114 line bus from Plainfield rear-ended a 190-line vehicle from Paterson in the tunnel’s center tube at about 7:35 a.m., an N.J. Transit spokesman said.

Both of the buses were bound for the New York Port Authority. The collision led to delays of up to 30 minutes along 65 bus routes into the hub, the spokesman said. There were 46 passengers on board the rear bus and 57 passengers on the other. Port Authority Police say 15 people suffered minor injuries.

Twitter users were infuriated by the incident.

“N.J. is a piece of s---. That is all,” tweeted Tawny Baby.

The center tube was out of service as police investigated the incident.
