Apple releases emergency security patch iOS 9.3.5
You need to update your iPhone's iOS ASAP.
Apple released an emergency security patch Thursday version iOS 9.3.5 after discovering a spyware that lets hackers take full control of any iPhone.
Apple said it worked on a patch immediately after learning about it.
The spyware was discovered after a failed attempt to break into the iPhone of an Arab activist, according to The Associated Press. The spyware lets hackers take advantage of three system flaws within the iPhone, which were all previously undisclosed.
Researchers at Citizen Lab reported the three system flaws — which deal with kernel memory — allow hackers to essentially jailbreak an iPhone remotely, which is the first time it’s been attempted.
Once the spyware is installed in an iPhone, the three flaws could be exploited by hackers to spy on calls and messages without the owner ever finding out.
Those who have an iPhone can download and install iOS 9.3.5 by going into General > Software Update > and tap on "Download," then "Install."
