Brooklyn teacher caught stealing from Century 21 department store

A teacher was arrested after she was allegedly caught stealing merchandise at a Century 21 store in Brooklyn, police said Friday.

Veronica Slukhinsky was nabbed inside the department store on 87th St. near Fifth Ave. in Bay Ridge just after 11 p.m. Thursday, cops said.

She allegedly tried to make off with an Emilio Pucci shirt costing $319.99, a $139.99 Paul & Joe shirt and a $52.99 Scoth & Soda vest. Slukhinsky allegedly swapped price tags on those items for less expensive tags and tried to pay the lower charge.

The 48-year-old suspect, who started teaching at K352 middle school in 2013, was charged with larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, officials said.
Her teacher’s salary is $74,936, according to a Department of Education spokesman. He added while the incident was not school-related, the department will monitor the criminal case.
