Demi Lovato sued by Sleigh Bells for copyright infringement

An indie rock group wants Demi Lovato to face the music after accusing her of ripping off their songs.

The musicians of Sleigh Bells filed a lawsuit against the pop star for allegedly sampling two of their hits — "Infinity Guitars" and "Riot Rhythms" — in her 2015 track "Stars" without their permission.

Sleigh Bells state in the suit that the songs in question are "virtually identical," while arguing that the similarities "transcend the realm of coincidence," according to E! News.

"A comparison of the two songs reveals that, at the very least, the combination of the hand claps and bass drum, structured as 3 quarter beats and a rest, with the bass drum providing a counter-rhythm to the hand claps, is at least substantially similar in both works," the filing claims.

Sleigh Bells first accused the former Disney starlet of swiping their tunes last year after Lovato's song was released, but didn't file the lawsuit until now.

Two of the song's producers, Carl Falk and Rami Yacoub of UGM Recordings, were also named in the suit.

Yacoub shot down the allegations in a statement to Rolling Stone last year.

It's not the first time Lovato has received backlash for allegedly churning out similar music to another artist.

Last summer, a wave of fans compared her megahit "Cool for the Summer" to Katy Perry's timeless "I Kissed a Girl" — much to Lovato's chagrin.

"Sounds nothing like it and with all the advances we've made in the LGBT community … I think more than one female artist can kiss a girl and like it," the pop star tweeted in July 2015.

Reps for Lovato did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the latest allegations.
