Robber kicks Bronx woman, 81, takes off with her jewelry
A callous crook kicked an 81-year-old Bronx woman in the back before ripping a gold chain from her neck during a brazen robbery, officials said Tuesday.
It was the second time in a week that an elderly woman was attacked for her jewelry in the Belmont section of the Bronx, officials said.
Investigators released surveillance video Tuesday of the latest incident showing the suspect nonchalantly lurking outside the apartment building on Arthur Ave. as his victim slowly enters the building about 5:50 p.m. Sunday.
As soon as she gets the door open, the suspect hurries in behind her.
Once inside, police say he snatched the chain from the woman’s neck and kicked her in the back. She was not seriously hurt and refused medical attention, cops said.
The thief sought in Sunday’s crime is described as Hispanic with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, a white shirt, beige shorts and black sneakers, cops said.
Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
