Firefighters hauled a drunken man stuck in a chimney on top of a Chinatown apartment building to safety Saturday morning, officials said.
The liquored-up victim, who appears to be in his 20s, was drinking on the roof of the seven-story building on the corner of Canal and Allen Streets with pals when he crawled into the chimney’s opening about 7:35 a.m., officials said.
The snockered would-be Santa had descended 13 feet into the chimney when he got stuck.
“He had made it down the 8-foot chimney and another 5 feet into the floor below,” an FDNY source said.
“As to why he went down there, we have no idea.”
Luckily, the firehouse for Ladder Co. 6 is located right next door.
Firefighters extended a ladder from a firetruck to the roof, climbed to the roof, threw down ropes and pulled the man back up to safety.
Dazed and sooty from his tight squeeze, the victim was walked to an awaiting ambulance.
He was taken to Bellevue Hospital for observation, officials said.
