Jennifer Lawrence named world’s highest-paid actress

The list factors the earnings made by actresses between June 2015 and June 2016.

Despite her enviable earnings, Lawrence fell short of last year's list-topping sum of $52 million.
That total was well short of the highest paid male actor of 2015, Robert Downey Jr., who scored an estimated $80 million.

Of course, the 26-year-old Lawrence has spoken out about the gender wage gap in the film industry in the past. Last October, she wondered why she wasn't paid as much as her male co-stars in "American Hustle" and revealed she was "mad" at herself for not being a more aggressive negotiator.

Forbes' list of highest-paid actors comes out on Thursday.

This year, Lawrence also fell well behind the world's most profitable musician, Taylor Swift, who pocketed an astonishing $170 million on the strength of her latest album and sprawling "1989 Tour."

Actress Scarlett Johansson finished third on the actresses list with $25 million.
