A Florida man was arrested Monday after hiding under the bed of an 11-year-old girl and leaving an obscene note for the child.
The young girl had been getting ready for school in her Naples home when she saw 24-year-old David Hanggigoble hiding under her bed, the Collier County Sheriff's Office said.
The alarmed girl ran out of the room to call her mother, but her mom happened to call her first. The girl's mother would briefly leave her alone to take her younger children to school and then head to work as part of her morning routine.
Hanggigoble fled the home and was later found outside by authorities.
The suspect, who lived in the apartment below, claimed that he went to the home "to borrow a ratchet," according to the police report obtained by the Daily News. He said he knocked on the door and said hello, and then "just went inside." When asked about the note and his "intentions" toward the girl, the suspect said he had only wanted to borrow tools.
The disturbing note, written on a piece of cardboard, was found on the girl's nightstand in her bedroom.
It was not the first time that Hanggigoble had suspicious encounters with the girl and the family, according to authorities. He had asked her one time if he could use their bathroom while she was alone. The girl said no, and went to a friend's house.
On another occasion a tablet playing porn videos was left sitting on their steps, and Hanggigoble said it belonged to him.
Hanggigoble was charged with cyberstalking and burglary.
