Pedestrian fatally struck by SUV in Queens


A 26-year-old man was fatally struck by an SUV in Queens early Sunday, police said.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was walking east on Rockaway Point Blvd. between Beach 193rd St. and Beach 184th St. in Breezy Point just after 12 a.m., according to the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad. The vehicle, a 2005 Toyota Sienna, was also traveling east on Rockaway Point Blvd. and hit the victim.

The SUV's windshield was smashed along with some front-end damage.

The victim was taken to Beth Israel Hospital, but he couldn't be saved, officials said.

The driver of the SUV, a 22-year-old man, stayed at the scene, police said. He was not charged.
