Texas waiter opens fire after fight with customer over lunch
Hey, he’s committed to the job.
A waiter at a Texas restaurant — where some workers wear fake guns with their uniforms — whipped out a real weapon and opened fire Wednesday during a lunchtime dispute with a customer.
A witness sent KEN5 chaotic cellphone footage from the Little Red Barn Steakhouse, showing terrified customers fleeing for safety as shots ring out in the downtown eatery.
The anonymous witnesses said it all started over a customer getting upset about receiving the wrong lunch order.
“The customers mentioned that he messed up their order, so when the waiter went to the side to step back, one of the customers got loose and started beating on the waiter,” the witness told the station.
The customer eventually trapped the waiter in a headlock — and after the waiter broke free, he pulled out his gun and fired three shots at the ceiling.
“There was old ladies on the floor, one in the back actually crying,” the witness said.
“It was scary.”
The waiter and customer then fled from the restaurant. No one was shot or injured, police said.
The restaurant owner said, uniforms notwithstanding, employees aren’t allowed to carry real weapons on the job. The restaurant also said only hostesses tote the fake guns, not waiters.
The waiter and employee have not been identified, and charges have not been announced.
